The Emergination Africa second Honour Badge goes to Charlton Ncube who is a self-motivated young man set on taking the world by storm. Throughout his primary school and secondary school, he has been a top achiever in academics as well as well as core curricular activities such as chess, quiz, science exhibitions and public speaking. Over the years he has held a number of leadership positions, including quiz team captain, science exhibition leader and being a prefect. Currently he is the John Tallach High School team captain for Emergination Africa NBCC 2020. Charlton has managed to lead his team to victory in the team challenges that teams have been participating in as part of the NBCC 2020 journey.
Academics and extra-curricular activities
For his Advanced level studies, Charlton is studying Business Studies, Accounts, Statistics and Economics. He has passion for business ad entrepreneurship. Charlton is also a versatile student who participates in other activities that are not related to his commercial interest. After the lockdown is lifted, Charlton is expecting to participate in the National Orate Africa Public Speaking Competition and the Chess provincials Competition. He has also attended various leadership seminars hosted by prominent entrepreneurs and business people in Zimbabwe.
Dreams for the future
Charlton’s dream is to study Graphics Design and Programming and start a Graphic Designing and Programming Company. Through his love for the former, he hopes to develop a digital platform where various young growing entrepreneurs across Africa will get the chance to learn from already established and known entrepreneurs through digital seminars. This digital platform will focus on linking young entrepreneurs and exposing them to organizations like Emergination Africa and other influential innovators who will mentor them in their innovation journeys.
Giving back to the community
He also hopes to give back to his community by building a Children’s home where the children will be exposed to arts, sports and entrepreneurship. His vision is to develop young people with Christian values. Charlton’s role models include his mother, Dwayne Johnson (the actor), the late former President of the Republic of South Africa-Nelson Mandela, the Founder of Econet-Strive Masiyiwa and Paul Masaku (a former John Tallach student who is now prominent businessman in the construction and aluminium fittings industry).
