Emergination Africa’s work is made possible through its various relationships and collaborations with different stakeholders. One stakeholder central to youth development is the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. To strengthen and validate our work, we made a courtesy call to the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Moses Mhike, on the 29th of January 2024, where we had the opportunity to appraise him of the organization’s vision and the milestones we have made thus far. The Permanent Secretary appreciated and applauded the role that EA is playing in contributing to the knowledge and skills economy.

The meeting was insightful as Mr. Farai Mushawasha, the Country Director for Emergination Africa, drew congruencies between the vision of the ministry and that of EA. Of note is the combined vision to see learners become skilled in various enterprises and for schools to become self-sustaining entities through sustainable and profitable business ventures. Mr. Mhike reiterated the importance of entrepreneurship education in schools and promised to work hand in glove with EA in increasing program visibility, learner access to skills, developing a technical-vocational ecosystem, and creating sustainable schools that align with 21st-century education and leadership strategies.

Our main sponsor, ZB Financial Holdings, was also part of the delegation that met with the Permanent Secretary. Mrs. Kezinet Ndhlovu, the General Manager for ZB Service Centres corroborated EA and the Ministry’s vision by stating that ZBFH is dedicated to ensuring that education benefits from the services of the banking institution. Apart from bankrolling the National Business Case Competition, the bank also works with most public schools and offers a variety of services ranging from deposits and withdrawals to loans that facilitate the acquisition of critical resources for schools. This year, the MoPSE, EA, and ZB will launch the 5th National Business Case in the next coming weeks. Stay tuned for details of the launch date, venue, and program highlights.
