Healthy Cereal and Cereal Bar from Milton High School NBCC Learners

Team Members: Mqondisi Moyo, Mandisa Mlawuzi, Knowledge Tshuma, Khumbulani Ncube, Arthur Dube, and Tavonga Mudhe.

This team of learners from Milton High School carried out surveys that revealed how poor nutritional education is a wide-ranging problem among the nation's populace. With this in mind coupled with the financial restrictions and busy lifestyles that prevent the majority of Zimbabweans from partaking in a healthy diet of fruits, they saw an opportunity.

Their solution: The Healthy Eats cereal and an On The Go cereal bar.

With breakfast being the most important meal of the day, this breakfast delights range, made from real organic and indigenous fruit extracts, honey, and more organic ingredients; contains essential nutrients that the average consumer needs to jump-start their day.

The venture from these Lower Six learners plans on leveraging the cost-effectiveness, convenience, and consumer friendliness of its breakfast cereal, as it will only require water to prepare. Unlike many other bowls of cereal on the market (that use milk), Healthy Eats offers a product that removes that added cost without compromising on quality and taste.

Products will come in exciting indigenous flavors like massawa, umbumbulu (chechete), and umkhomo (baobab). Tropical flavors like orange, pineapple, and banana will also be available.

We can’t wait for these to be available on the market!
